When we talk of flatwoven rugs, we can also say rugs
without pile, but in some cases in view
of giving design we can make rugs, with some small pile at some places to give
it designer look.
But plainly flatwoven rugs are flat rugs, without any pile.
These are neither tufted, not knotted.
The warp is always of cotton with the weft in wool, to be
weaved as per the design. This can be modern design, traditional design or
kelim design.
In earlier times, these flatwoven rugs were mainly made with
kelim pattern, but with the change of taste and design, the demand has shooted
of contemporary designs too. Such beautiful design, with colour matching make
these rugs looking very beautiful. These may be antique look, harsh feel, soft
look and so on…
There are some limitations in these kind of weaving, but
